It’s already Hump Day! The second half of this week is busier for me, so while I’m excited for the rest of the week, I’m certain that I’ll be welcoming Friday with open arms. I thought this was going to be another week of hanging out at home after work, but I don’t think that will be the case! Last night, I had a committee meeting for Junior League, which I completely forgot about until I checked my email yesterday morning. I typically don’t forget things like that, so it was quite the surprise! It reminded me of the time my senior year of college that I completely missed an online quiz for my freshman-level kinesiology class because I was watching the Real Housewives. And then I thought I wasn’t going to graduate because I did really poorly in that class. But that’s a story for another time.
Anyone who knows me knows that “Treat Yo Self” is a life motto of mine. It’s more of a lifestyle, actually. I really don’t need a reason to treat myself. Oh, you had a good day? Treat yo self. Bad day? Treat yo self. Went for a run? Treat yo self. Didn’t feel like going for a run? Treat yo self. For me, a little treat doesn’t always mean I have to buy something (although it often does. I am working on this). Sometimes it’s going on a run, or making a little something sweet, or just avoiding all responsibilities for an evening. But one of my favorite ways to treat myself on the cheaps is to have a little spa night at home!
Usually, I’ll buy a sheet mask from Ulta and/or a bath bomb from Lush, but I’m always looking for new things to try! I was thrilled when Amanda from AJ Apothecary asked me to try a few of her products- the perfect excuse to treat yo self. I received the Bluegrass Drawing Mask and Caffeinated Sugar Scrub, both products I’ve heard a lot about and was super excited to try!
A little more about AJ Apothecary: It’s a one-woman show based in Lexington, Kentucky. My new friend Amanda makes everything herself, and runs the business side of things, too! Talk about a GirlBoss. Her goal is to create high quality, luxurious botanical pampering products, and I think she’s doing an awesome job! One of my favorite parts is that she donates a portion of every product sold to a non-profit organization, Hope From Harper, an organization that funds pediatric cancer research, and helps spread joy and hope to kids diagnosed with cancer. Amanda told me that it’s important to her to “share the blessings” she receives, and I just love that mindset! I love a good face mask, and I really love a chance to help others, so I was hooked!
Okay 1. my nails look like trash. Sorry. I am also writing this post in the wee hours, so one thing at a time.
First, the Bluegrass Drawing Mask. I have been hearing a lot about charcoal masks from other bloggers and on social media, so I was dying to try one for myself! I’ll be honest- after I put it on the first time, I was washing my hands and was having a hard time getting the black residue off my fingers. I panicked, thinking that it was also going to turn my face black, and I had to speak to a large group of people the next day and that was not going to be a good look. However, after a few washes, it all came off! It took a few rinses on my face as well, a couple with warm water and one with face wash. But the results were fabulous! I left the mask on for about 20 minutes, and after I rinsed it off, my face felt smooth, soft, and very clean! Plus, it has a combination of essential oils that give it a wonderful scent that I love! I’ll definitely be using this weekly to treat myself and my skin!
Up next at my Stay at Home Spa was this Caffeinated Sugar Scrub! I’ve seen lots of Pinterest recipes for a coffee scrub, and have always been very intrigued, so I was super excited to try this product as well! It’s been a while since I’ve gotten a pedicure, so I decided to try this on my feet. I don’t quite have nasty runner feet, but I mean, I do run pretty frequently, so I’ve got some callouses. This exfoliating scrub smelled great-like a fresh pot of coffee brewing, and left my little feet feeling soft and smooth! I think next I will try it on my elbows and hands. This will be great for the winter when your skin gets super dry from the cold weather!
AJ Apothecary has many other products that you should check out! She’s got a few other scrubs and body butters, plus some things for new mamas and babies. I’ve got my eye on the lip balm and tea baths! Her products are already super affordable, but so you also can treat yo self, my readers can get 15% off by using the code KMOSS15!
What are your favorite Stay at Home Spa products? Let me know!
I was provided these products to review, but all opinions are my own.
That’s all for meow!
