I’ve honestly never understood people who don’t like drinking water. Growing up, I had friends that would only drink Kool-Aid, Sunny D, or Gatorade, and never water because they “didn’t like how it tasted”. I personally think that was just an excuse because water doesn’t have a taste. It tastes like nothing. Just drink it.
However, I will say that I’m not the best at drinking as much water as I should. It’s not that I don’t like it (besides coffee, that’s what I drink most of the time!), it’s just kind of a task. But, if you can make your water a little more fun, it can be easier to drink more! Infused water is kind of having it’s fifteen minutes of fame right now, and I for one am paying attention. Adding fruit to your water makes it more refreshing and tasty, and you’ll be drinking more before you know it! Also, I call it “sassy water” because when I was in high school, my cheer sponsor called it that and I honestly think it’s hilarious so it’s just stuck with me because it’s a little bit ridiculous. Humor me, okay?
You can really put whatever fruit you want in your sassy water! Citrus fruits are really popular, as well as melons and herbs like mint & basil. Over the past few weeks, I made four different pitchers of sassy water to share with you all. The directions are the same for each: chop up the fruit, throw it in the pitcher, and fill it with water! It’s best really cold, but I usually pour myself a glass right after I make it! Here are the four varieties I made:
Lemon, cucumber, and mint make a tart and refreshing pitcher! I would suggest using 1/2 or up to 3/4 of a lemon though, not an entire lemon. I used a whole lemon and it was way too sour!
Watermelon and pineapple! I’d had this combo before and it was SO GOOD, but when I made it the watermelon overpowered the pineapple. So I would suggest using plenty of pineapple if you’re really wanting that flavor to stand out!
This strawberry, cucumber, and mint combo was my favorite! For the mint, just tear it into pieces, and you just need a few leaves!
I just made this one today! Watermelon and cucumber. I feel like cucumber has a melon-y flavor, so it’s really refreshing with the watermelon. Also, I just noticed that this is the only photo where the handle of my cutting board is facing to the right and I am about to LOSE IT. I digress.
Do you have favorite fruits to put in your sassy water? Let me know!
That’s all for meow!
