Happy Monday! And Happy After Party Sale Day! If you don’t know what I’m talking about check out my last post, and then get in line for Lilly! I’m excited about this week, because this morning I’m traveling to Austin for work, and will be there until Tuesday afternoon. It’s my first “business trip” and I just feel like such an adult. Plus it will be something different, which will be great!
Although I’m excited for the week, I’m a little sad the weekend is over! This was a surprisingly productive weekend, which isn’t typical for weekends where I don’t have plans. I went shopping, spent too much on activewear, drove through high waters that I definitely should not have, went running two days in a row (where is my trophy?), fell down my apartment stairs on the way to church, skipped a Sunday nap, wrote two blog posts, came in under my weekly grocery budget for once, and knocked out part of a project for Holiday Market. I failed to catch up on the Real Housewives of New Jersey, which was disheartening, but there’s always next weekend I guess.
On to the main event. This lemon dress matches the lemon top I posted about a couple of weeks ago. Here’s the story: I bought the top one morning on my way to work. Yes, at a series of stoplights. When you need it, you need it, okay? Then, when I got home I was perusing the site and found this dress, which I also decided I needed. At the risk of becoming the crazy lemon girl, I threw caution to the wind and purchased the dress as well.
What made me decide that I could not go on without this dress was definitely the cold shoulder and ruffle detailing. The cold shoulder trend is one of my favorites this summer, as well as bold, unique prints! This dress reminds me of this fabulous Katie Kime shift, but at a much more affordable price point! Which by the way, Katie Kime is one of my latest obsessions and I just want to upholster my entire life in her prints. I digress.
Also I was just clearly sassin’ it up during this shoot, but what else do you expect?
I think I love this dress so much because it’s the perfect combination of classic and unexpected. It’s a sweet little silhouette with a ruffle, but the bold lemon print makes it stand out. My mom told me that it reminded her of something I would wear when I was a child, which at first made me question it, but then I decided that means I’ve had a chic sense of style since I rolled up in here 24 years ago. Do not burst this bubble for me.
