Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Mine consisted of doing nothing, which was perfect after a super busy weekend in Washington D.C. two weeks ago. My best friend from high school, Kinsey, lives and works there, and I went to visit her for the weekend. We had so much fun, and I’m planning to share my D.C. guide next week here on the blog! So stay tuned.
On Sunday, we spent the better part of the day in Georgetown, and it is kind of the east coast preppy life that I dream of having. I was obsessed with the colorful strands of houses and the brick streets, and the Georgetown University campus was teeming with history, and I just loved it. It was also the perfect backdrop for a few outfit photos! Thanks to Kins for being my photographer and not letting me settle for average photos just because people were coming & I was embarrassed.
This gingham top is what spring dreams are made of, and I’m loving it paired with this distressed white denim! I bought these jeans in D.C. at Zara, and they’re a great addition to my closet. I have one other pair of white jeans, but I don’t love how they fit, and I always want to wear them when they’re dirty! So it was time for a second pair. Also, these are from the little girl’s section, so they were much cheaper, which I am all about. I’ve bought shoes and tops from the girl’s section at Target before, but I’ve never really considered jeans. My friend Kinsey is about the same size as me, and she was trying them on, so I did too, and my life is forever changed. For a day of walking, I chose my canvas sneakers from Target that I bought specifically for this trip. A suggestion: wear socks. I didn’t because the only ones I brought looked terrible, and I now have blisters all over my feet and about halfway through the day I just wanted to lay down on the sidewalk because my feet hurt so bad. Not my proudest moment, but I digress. This outfit was pretty black & white, so I decided to punch it up with my favorite BaubleBar stunners! The cobalt blue adds a nice pop of color, and they’re not too heavy, so you can wear them all day and still be comfortable (unlike the shoes). Last but not least, the Barrington Bag is perfect for a day of touring the city. You can stash some snacks, a water bottle, phone charger, and even a rain jacket inside! And hide your Laduree purchase when you go inside a Smithsonian because food isn’t allowed.
