It’s my birthday!! And for the rest of you, it’s Wednesday. Guys, I felt like I lived an entire life yesterday all before 10 am. I woke up at 5 am (RARE) to get ready to shoot blog photos at 7:30, did that until 8:15ish, then went home, changed, ran a few errands, and then took my car to get fixed, then finally got into work around 10:30. Then I worked until 5, and went on an extra long run because I was determined to get 10,000 steps on my Jawbone. I definitely went to sleep early last night, because I have another big day today! Not only because it’s my birthday, but because I have a marketing event at work and those just really take it out of me. I digress.
I often have to try and restrain myself from becoming someone who makes a huge deal out of my birthday, but I usually can’t. It’s unclear how I became this person, because no one else in my family gets as excited as I do about their birthdays. Well if they do, they can keep it in better than I can. I just love to celebrate with my friends and my family. I’m not talking anything crazy like forcing people to go on birthday trips, but like, we’re at least going to go to dinner. And I’m probably going to buy a new outfit. Not that I really need an excuse to do that.
But I actually just love everyone’s birthday. I like to surprise people and make them feel special, and my family and friends have always done a really great job of doing that for me! I remember when I turned 17, my friends Joy and Taylor surprised me by showing up at my house with a cake and decorated my porch with streamers and balloons at like 11 pm. They were also hiding in the bushes, but that’s just a minor detail. I think it’s the little things, like streamers and an un-iced bundt cake, that mean the most to people and make the best memories.
Also confetti photo shoots are the most fun. Until you feel like you should clean it up and people are staring. But I found this chunky confetti at Target, and it made for great photos, I think! It would be great if you were the type of person brave enough to bring confetti into your home. I for one, am not. Only outside. I think I got this from my mom.
Now that I’ve discussed literally everything else, let’s talk about this top. I am OBSESSED. I saw it on Lyon + Post and wanted it so badly. It was sent in my first box, but it was too small. I also convinced myself that I had literally nowhere to wear it, but for some reason I had them send me a size up in my next box. I think I knew that I could justify buying it somehow, plus it had been marked down quite a bit! I tried the second one on and it fit, and I could not take it off I loved it so much. I knew this was The Birthday Top. So I kept it and will now forever be searching for new occasions to wear it to, a challenge I willingly accept.
This is me pretending to be Luke from The Bachelorette. I just could not help but laugh when he dramatically leaned up against his barn in his intro video and stared pensively off into the Texas sky. Hahaha NO ONE DOES THAT IN REAL LIFE. I just couldn’t get over it all season. Bless his heart.
Also, I love the hemline of this top! It’s so fun and flouncy, and you can even twirl a little bit!
Or you can just stand against a wall and soft smile. The choice is yours.
That’s all for meow!
